Improving Reach

People In Action Training & Consultancy

Managed by: Lynne Howard
Email: lynne.howard@peopleinaction.org.uk

The training we provide is on an individual, case by case needs basis, as well as a set of programmes, which heighten awareness of learning disability and other related topics.

ROOOTS Social Enterprise

Manager: Bill Walton

Email: bill.Walton@peopleinaction.org.uk

The team is made up of Dwight Allen, David Francis, Joycelin Richards, Linda Simpson, Andrew Walsh, and Paul Zulu.

They offer training on:
African Caribbean history and culture, and the challenge of racism
Black lives; health, hair and skin care, food, and other important things in daily life
Copying with bereavement (death of family members)
Helping people to speak out for themselves.

In the previous year ROOOTS has successfully taken part in conferences and workshops in Bradford, Chorley, Leeds, London and Manchester. They also took part in Valuing People Support Team National and Regional Ethnicity meetings. Joycelin represents ROOOTS on the Leeds Partnership Board, and Paul represents ROOOTS at Inclusion North.

They have made two films with The Production Company – a film “About ROOOTS” and a training film about bereavement. They also plan to make training films on health and on being safe in the community. Having finished a ‘Training for Change’ course in 2006 they are now available for bookings, to give training on the areas stated above.

e-nterprise In Action

Managed by: Jane Sanderson

This is a new project at People In Action.
It asks people to support their local charity by donating your unwanted items to us, either from work or home. We will then sell these items on eBay. Profits go towards continuing our projects and activities for people with learning difficulties and disabilities.

The project provides 2 different services -

OPTION 1:
Simple! Donate your item(s) to the project. You can do this by posting it in to us (link to the contact us page) or contact Jane Sanderson at the People In Action office to arrange a possible* pick-up.
*(please note: we may not be able to take some items due to limited storage, but we can organise to sell your item(s) ‘collect only’)

OPTION 2:
In need of some extra cash? Why not get e-nterprise In Action to sell your items on eBay, on your behalf. We will do all the work for you, including putting and managing your item(s) on the eBay site, you just need to sit back and reap the rewards! For this service we only take a small commission.

Please contact Jane Sanderson for more Information.
