Lovelife Project Starting January 2012

Our Safer Relationships project for young people aged 16-25 with learning difficultes/disabilities is starting in January 2012.

Young people aged 14+ can participate if the project would be of benefit to them.

Play in Action – Playscheme for Disabled Children Starts 24th September 2011

Our Play in Action project starts again on 24th and 25th September 2011.

Play in Action is a play project for disabled children aged 8-13 and their siblings.

The group will run on Saturdays at Cross Green Youth Centre in Otley, and on Sundays at Shantona (behind the Bangladeshi Centre) on Roundhay Road.

We like to send texts out to our members and parents/carers about our services and activities.

Want to stay up to date? Make sure we’ve got your mobile number for our member mail!

If you don’t want us to text you, make sure you check our website and Facebook regularly or give us a call – we are cutting down the amount of letters we send to our members.

(We have lots of members and we can’t always spend time ringing round to tell you about our services, groups and events.)

We are trying to change things and remind our members to check our site, ring us or sign up to get our texts.

Digital Switchover 07/09/11- Need Help?

Leeds switches over to digital TV reception on 7th September 2011. This means if you only use an aerial, you need to upgrade. Also, you will also need to re-tune your digital box if you have one.

The Switchover Help Scheme could help switch you over if you:

are aged 75 or over;
get or could get Disability Living Allowance
get Attendance Allowance
get Constant Attendance Allowance or mobility supplement;
have lived in a care home for six months or more
are registered blind or partially sighted

Friends of People in Action

Participation means taking part and also being listened to – your opinon matters to us! We need new members for our Friends of PIA group. Would you like to have a say in what projects happen at PIA? Would you like to take part in shaping our services?
We want our members to be involved in choosing what we do.

The group meet every couple of months, usually for about an hour. We will talk about your opinions and plan for the future.

The next meeting is on the 6th September at 6.30pm. There will be tea and cake!

Burglary at People in Action between 23-25th July 2011

Dear Member

I am writing to inform you that People in Action had a major burglary at our offices over the above weekend and that a number of our laptops were stolen as well as access to some of our files.

I am writing to you as your phone number or address was on one of the laptops that was stolen. These details were on our laptop as we have been in contact with you over the last 12 months.

We have reported the matter to the police and have not been able to recover the equipment at present. I felt it necessary to contact and inform you of this incident and hope that this does not cause you too much distress or inconvenience.

I request that you be vigilant to any potential contact by telephone or letter impersonating People in Action or any other unusual requests.

I apologise once again and offer any support or information that you may require in relation to this matter.
